Why I am representing them
Most operators I meet want the seat. This one wants the problem. Their own description is that they arrive like a hurricane, fix everything, then get bored, which is an unusually honest thing for an executive to say out loud. Twenty-two years of it, mostly in plants that were losing money when they walked in. I took this on because sponsors keep asking me for someone who can go in, tell the truth and fix it, and almost nobody is genuinely built for that.
Track record
Took a two-plant campus of roughly 800 people from a $4m monthly loss to break even.
Turned a confectionery operation from losses to record output in three months.
Took a century-old insolvent business to profitable, then to a sale returning 40% ROI. Overhead headcount down 65%.
Ran a plant bought out of bankruptcy to 20% above the prior owner's best year, then 30%.
Where they fit
A sponsor or board with a plant losing money and a clock running. They report to the owner or the board, not to the executive whose decisions caused the problem, and they say so up front. Best used where the mandate is three to nine months and the authority is real.
“They told me the boss matters more than the role, and that they will not sit under the person who caused the problem. That is the right instinct.”
